BITMAA-NA understands the importance of the privacy of any information that you provide on this website. We take your privacy very seriously. As such, we have developed this policy that explains how we collect, use, communicate and disclose and make use of personal information that you provide on this site. The information that you provide during the Registration on the website is carefully reviewed by the BITMAA-NA Team to ensure the authenticity of the submitter and accuracy of the information submitted. Only after proper authentication, a user is activated and allowed to login.

What personal information is collected?

At the time of registration your name, contact information including address, e-mail ID, graduation year, branch, and your category (alumni, spouse or children of alumni, current full time student or faculty) will be collected. Additional information may be collected periodically on a need basis whenever the situation demands. Your batch reunion team may also collect and upload personal information to this site such as your contact information, bios, pictures, videos, etc. In addition, when you connect to our website, our web server may record the IP address of your computer, information about your browser and operating system, date and time of access and the internet address and the page that linked you to this site. Our website may store a Cookie on your hard drive and it may be later accessed by the website to track prior usage and personalize your visit experience.

The BITMAA-NA website may contain links to other independently run websites that are not controlled by BITMAA-NA and are not covered by this privacy policy and terms of use. BITMAA-NA is not responsible for the privacy practices, security or content of such websites.

How is personal information collected?

Personal information from the alumni, spouse and children of alumni, current full-time students or faculty is collected at the time of registration on the website and on other pages such as the pledge/donation form. If you are having a reunion, your reunion team may collect personal information from you for posting to your batch’s website that is available on this site. Our website will collect personal information by lawful and fair means and, were appropriate, with the knowledge or consent of the individual concerned. We may also collect your contact information from BIT Mesra for inclusion in BITMAA-NA Alumni directory.

How is the information used?

All personally identifiable information collected and stored on this website is treated as confidential and will be used only for the purposes stated at the time of collection. Email and contact of alumni will be used when they are looked up for by other alumni. Personal Information is never transferred, disclosed or otherwise shared with any third party or third parties for commercial use without the prior consent of the data subject, except in the event that BITMAA-NA is required to disclose Personal Information pursuant to any applicable Laws and/or Codes or as required by a valid court or governmental order.

Who can access the information?

All personally identifiable information on the BITMAA-NA.org website can only be accessed by registered users/members of BITMAA-NA. Visitors who are not registered on the website will not have access to such obligations and requirements.

Online Member / Alumni Directory

BITMAA-NA maintains the Member / Alumni Directory for the purposes of facilitating networking and interaction among Alumni and helping Alumni keep in touch with BITM alumni all over the world. The directory is username and password protected, and may only be accessed by authenticated Alumni of BIT Mesra. BITMAA-NA has taken commercially reasonable precautions to secure the personal information as outlined in the above points. However, it is the users’ responsibility to insure that their username and password are not shared with others and stored securely. BITMAA-NA website also has the provision for registered users to edit and update their password and profile information. It is the responsibility of the user to use a strong password and change it periodically to prevent possible fraud. Registered members will have access to information in the directory, but may not use the information they obtain for commercial or political purposes, promotions, advocacy, or any other purpose, business or otherwise except to facilitate individual personal communication or business of BITMAA-NA.
BITMAA-NA will not be held liable for any unauthorized use by anyone who does not adhere to these policies.

Email Policy

BITMAA-NA does not sell, rent, or exchange email addresses of its members. BITMAA-NA may use email addresses to send the following - Newsletters and other publications of BITMAA-NA, important communications, event updates, email distribution lists targeted at BITMAA-NA, email messaging that is part of a group for which the member has registered to etc. These announcements are short, straightforward messages that are sent to the registered members on a regular basis without spamming their mail box.
